"Waste of time, it was a waste of time having us come up here," yelled one resident.

Many people in the area believed Thursday night's meeting would follow-up on a meeting from two Monday's ago, where City Chairman LaBarfield Bryant was asked to sit down by Vice-Mayor Kathy Avriett.

Bryant said it was uncalled for but Avriett said he just wasn't doing his job.

"Mr. Bryant was elected unanimously, but he has struggled the entire time he's been up here and I really felt for him," said Avriett.

What went on in last meeting was unnecessary, I can't answer why it went on. It was just unnecessary to be on in a city meeting," said Bryant.

The next council meeting is set for December 8th.

The one thing that Chairman Bryant IS doing that has not been done in quite a while is allowing public comment throughout the meetings. The city council is supposed to represent the views of the citizens. Until Mr. Bryant became chairman public comment was limited to three minutes per person before the meeting. If something was brought up in the meeting that a member of the public wished to comment on, especially before the council voted, it was not allowed. Whatever his faults, Chairman Bryant has allowed the public to speak and inform the council of their wishes. It is very nice to actually feel a part of the process instead of just a bystander who gets to pay the bill.
