Candidate Mike Keown made a stop in Thomasville this afternoon (10/26) as part of a GOP bus tour through Georgia, shaking hands, and answering questions.
On Keown's official website, he lists his qualifications, including having spent 4 years as mayor of Coolidge from 1986 to 1990.
But residents are concerned about this claim; they say newspaper evidence shows Keown only served as mayor for two years.
We asked Keown about this in an interview, and he told us:
"For a little while, I took some time off, came back, and served part of the term...it was during that time that I served, it was not a total of 4 years...but it was during that time that I served."
Keown is currently serving as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives.
He says his experience in politics, as well as his strong community ties, qualify him as the best choice for representing Georgia residents in Washington, DC.
