Lowndes County, Georgia - August 17, 2012 -
According to Sheriff Chris Prine, on Thursday evening around 4:30 pm, deputies were called to an address on Kelly Way by a caller who had found their neighbor deceased in the homes swimming pool.
Betty Welch, who was sixty years old, was home alone as her husband had traveled out of town for business. The victim would often swim late at night. When the husband was unable to contact his wife, he called a neighbor and asked that they check the home.
The exact cause of death has not yet been determined but no foul play is suspected. An autopsy will be performed by the Medical Examiner’s office of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
