Thomasville, GA- Law enforcement officials are making their presence known at local schools following the tragedy at Sandy Hook.
Thomasville Police and Thomas County Sheriff's Deputies made their rounds to elementary, middle and high schools in the area on Monday.
Captain Steve Jones with the Thomas County Sheriff's Office says they're working with school officials to make sure they have a safety plan in place and that everyone feels protected.
"We're just trying to be more visible right now and again, just trying to reassure the staff, as well as the parents who see us here, that we are aware; we're very aware of what's going on and we're going to do everything we can to be as visible as we can be and be as big of a deter as we can," said Jones.
Captain Jones said they will continue to make their rounds throughout the rest of the week.
