Thomasville, GA-Third and fourth grade students at Cross Creek Elementary in Thomasville took a trip to the literacy pumpkin patch on Halloween.
Teachers had the students pick their favorite book and then decorate a pumpkin based on one of the characters.
They also wrote a summary about the book and shared it with their classmates.
The students say the project was a fun treat and got them excited about reading.
"They really were excited to do them," said Karsyn Bush, a third grade student. "A lot of people, they started right when Ms. Dechman told them to and a bunch of people brought the pumpkins in at the last minute."
Throughout the day students from different classrooms took turns visiting each other's pumpkin patches.
The teachers said the event was a total success!
