Thomasville, GA- It looks like a cozy living room, right off the pages of a magazine; but to the 150 some soldiers turned students, the special spot on Thomas University's campus is much more.

"I really wasn't expecting it, so it was a surprise to have an area on campus for us to just relax," said Hiram Collins, a United States Marine Corps veteran and student at TU.

"On our campus, we wanted to have a safe place; a place where veterans could come, relax and be around other veterans," added Jennifer Lindquist, with TU's Student Support Services.

With the help of Lowes and Ashley's Furniture Store in Thomasville, as well as donations from staff, Thomas University created the 'Veterans' Lounge.'

"We have a computer, they can do their homework. They can make coffee, they can eat their lunch here or watch TV," said Lindquist.

Many of the students say the new lounge is more than just a place to relax; it's a place for friendship and fellowship.

"It's good to meet with other veterans," Collins said. "We have things in common that we can discuss and this is the perfect place to do it."
