Willie Mae Brown had a lot to celebrate on Friday.
"Oh I've had a great life," she said. "I just thank God. I go to church on Sundays and praise the Lord."
Surrounded by some of her six children and 37 grand and great-grand children, Brown turned 100 years old.
"She is the great matriarch of the family and we are just so wonderfully blessed to have her here," said Hannah Scott, one of Brown's daughters.
Brown's son, Jackie Lattimore, added that his mother is, "Very strong, very determined and always pushing everyone to love one another."
Brown credits her long healthy life to staying active, drinking lots of water, and having a positive attitude.
"She is sharp about everything," Scott said. " Don't think you can fool her."
"One thing about my great-grandmother that I'm sure has kept everyone alive, is that she always smiles. I've never seen a frown on her face," said Troy Bowie, Brown's great-grandson.
Brown sure has a lot to smile about. More than 150 friends and family members will attend a birthday party in her honor.
She says her birthday wish this year is to continue attending church and spending time with her family and friends
"I'm hoping and praying I will be living to see another year," she said.
