UPDATE 7-1-2011 AT 6:20PM by Caroline Gonzmart

Jerome Blakely lives down the street from the crime scene.

He says he's afraid to let his kids out of the house to play following the shooting because he never knows where gunfire could erupt next.

Says Blakely, "It's kinda hard to let your kids come outside and play ... somebody [could] just come out of nowhere and shoot."

The Moultrie Police Department says 28-year-old Xavier Yates was with a friend when they ran into brothers Antonio and Jermaine Spradley around 11:45 the morning of June 30, 2011.

MPD says after a disagreement, the Spradleys shot Yates in the head. They arrested Antonio Spradley and continue to hunt for his brother, Jermaine.

Blakely says his four-year-old daughter heard the noise of gunfire, but at the time he had no idea what it was.

He explains, "We heard a little 'pop,' and she asked me, 'What was that?' and I told her it was a firecracker."

But, the noise continued.

Explains Blakely, "About 15, 20 minutes later we heard another 'Pow, pow, pow,' and I told her, 'Well, now it sounds like they just lit a whole pack of firecrackers.' I found out it was gunshots."

The ground where the shooting happened still bears traces of victim Xavier Yates.

Blakely says if someone knows something, they should come forward -- and the Moultrie Police Department agrees.

Lead investigator Cpl. Dave Underwood says anyone with tips can call anonymously and leave information at (229) 985-3131.
