It's a $3 million vision that's finally coming to life. After more than two years of planning, construction is officially underway for the new rehabilitation facility at the Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie.
At a groundbreaking celebration on June 25, the president and CEO of the hospital announced plans for the 13,000 square foot facility.
It's hard to imagine now, but the empty parking lot will soon combine physical, speech and language, as well as occupational therapies, all in one convenient location.
Renee Crosby, director of the hospital's Speech Pathology Services said, "It's great. It's definitely been worth the wait. We know that our administration and hospital authorities are behind us and they're for the people in this community and meeting their needs."
There will also be a swimming pool with underwater treadmills as part of the aquatic physical therapy program.
The medical center says throughout the construction process, they plan on using local subcontractors.
The project is expected to be complete by June 2013.
