Thomasville, GA- In the race for Thomas County Sheriff incumbent Carlton Powell has been re-elected for another term against newcomer Dale Mattilla with a 76 to 24 percent vote.

Powell has been Sheriff for 36 years and says he is looking forward to serving the people of Thomas County for another four years.

"I'm going to take me a day or so to catch my breath, but after that we're going to go about business as normal," said Powell.

He also added, "We'll be watching for any new trends or things that we see that we maybe need to change and I'll be relying tremendously on the people I have working for me to keep me abreast of what we may need to do."
