Relay for Life of Lowndes and Echols County is hoping to find 400 hundred people to walk in the event on April 29.
Health officials say over 3,217 people in Lowndes County alone are battling cancer.
And participating in the upcoming event, is a way for survivors to come together and access community resources.
"We want survivors and caregivers to know what options are out there, should something happen and they have cancer or it comes back again," said Teresa Baumann, the 2011 Relay for Life of Lowndes County event chairwoman. She added, "They may now know of all the benefits and options that are available through the American Cancer Society."
If you're a cancer survivor or caregiver and would like to sign up, register with Relay for Life.
The number to call is (229) 560-7493.
