Athens, GA (AP) - Authorities say they have arrested a man
accused of using a toilet seat lid to beat a man to death and then
kidnapping and raping a woman who witnessed the attack.
The Athens Banner-Herald reports that 40-year-old William Thomas
Valentine Jr. was arrested Monday afternoon at his brother's home
in Oglethorpe County. Police say he is charged in the Sunday murder
of 51-year-old Alfred Lorenzo Harris.
Police say Valentine also is accused of kidnapping a woman who
lived with Harris and taking her to Madison County, where
authorities say he raped her.
Authorities say Valentine has a long prison history: he's served
five stints in state prison -- once for aggravated assault.

Once again proving the FBI statistics that violent offenders will almost always remain violent offenders, and in my opinion, should remain locked up for life after their FIRST violent offense. Let non-violent offenders walk when the prisons are too full before letting state sentencing guidelines keep violent offenders out, or before it lets violent offenders out early!
