Joshua Barton, 28, was taken into custody Monday by the railroad tracks on Corinth Church Road in Valdosta, said Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine.

Officers say he's responsible for going through people's mail to steal checks and then forging them as his own before cashing them at local businesses.

Both Tift County and Bainbridge deputies are investigating crimes that may be linked to Barton.

He's charged with stealing checks and violating his probation.

Barton is behind bars at the Lowndes County jail.

yep. a real coward. Most of us get a job and earn our pay. I say we institute public spankings. Or better yet, let him work it off under the supervision of those who stole from. what a piece of you-know-what.
