[UPDATE] Man Shot At Hudson Dockett Housing Complex

On May 4, 2011 at approximately 7:00 PM, members of the Valdosta Police Department Power Squad, located and arrested the third suspect, David Earl Butler. Butler was arrested in the Hudson Docket Housing Complex, 807 S. Fry Street without incident. Butler was transported to the Valdosta Police Department, where he was interviewed, and then transported to the Lowndes County Jail. Butler has been charged with Aggravated Assault.


Valdosta, GA - At 8:45 Tuesday night, police responded to a shooting at apartment 131 of the Hudson Dockett Housing Complex, according to Lt. Aaron Kirk with the Valdosta Police Department.

Officers say Martin Mathis, 21, said he'd been shot in the forehead.

Police arrested Vinnie Pierce and Justin Arnold, but say a third suspect, who's believed to be the shooter, is at large.

VPD is not releasing that person's identity yet.

Martin was airlifted to Shands Hospital in Gainesville and is expected to recover.

"This black-on-black crime got to stop," says Alfred Hill, who moved to Hudson Dockett a month ago. "All crime needs to stop but especially this out here. Half of the people that come by here do this kind of thing, they don't live here."

Pierce and Arnold are charged with aggravated assault, making false statements and criminal trespassing.
