The Thomas County Sheriff's Office released reports that two deputies arrived at Michael Smith's Abbey Lake apartment to pick him up last Friday.

TCSO says they had difficulty getting Smith to cooperate, and when they tried to get him to comply, the man stabbed one of the deputies in the eyeball with an uncapped Sharpie marker, then bit through the deputy's clothing.

TCSO says the deputy will recover with full vision.

Smith is charged with assault and battery on a peace officer.

He remains in custody.
