If you think you've been having to swat more mosquitoes away lately, you're right.
The mild winter and lack of rain has not helped the situation. Larvae has been able to sit in stagnant water and breed. The pests may be a problem to residents having to swat the mosquitoes away or itch the bug bites, but the problem has led to business for exterminators.
"We've had an excessive amount of phone calls regarding trouble with mosquitoes. We're doing everything that we can. We're doing a mosquito reduction program to try and knock them back," said Joseph Ingles, a Service Manager for Astro Pest Control out of Thomasville.
Properly trimming your lawn and hedges, removing stagnant water from around the house, and getting rid of junk that may have been out in the yard for a while are a few tips exterminators have to help get rid of the mosquitoes.
