Moultrie, GA-The City of Moultrie passed a public indecency ordinance this week, which includes a ban on sagging your pants.
"It's became a concern with a lot of citizens just from the viewpoint of maybe indecent exposures," said City Manager, Michael Scott.
Under the ordinance, pants can't hang lower than three inches off your waist and your skin and underwear can't be exposed.
First time offenders face a $25 dollar fine and possibly 40 hours of community service. Repeat offenders could face fines as high as $200 dollars.
"It should make a lot of people see you don't have $25 dollars to waste on pulling up your pants," said Moultrie resident, Joanna Lee.
"Ain't nothing nice about your pants hanging off you. And some of them can't even hardly walk with their pants dragging. We gonna put a stop to that. It's time for a change," said Moultrie resident Jimmy Taylor.
Others say the change in how some of the teens dress needs to start with the parents.
"Parents are the ones that buy children clothes. If they stop buying them, they won't have that problem," said Moultrie resident Valerie Alderman.
The City passed the ordinance unanimously. It takes effect immediately.
