Joycelyn Townsend, 44, was arrested at her home in Moultrie Wednesday for cashing checks that belonged to an elderly Valdosta couple, according to Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine.

Investigators say Townsend cashed one at the Valdosta Bank and used another to buy a car in Thomasville.

She is charged with felony forgery and is being held at the Lowndes County Jail.

If you have any information about Townsend, call the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office at 229-671-2972.

This type of thing happens a lot. Unfortunately, for many, (like my grandfather several years ago), these people are able to brainwash the elderly person in order to avoid prosecution.

What a shame, A care taker who would stoop so low as to steal from someone she was entrusted to care for. I hope that she will be able to pay this money back to these folks and stays a few years in jail. People have no shame anymnore. If they steal from you they will lie to you.
