More than $10,000 have been raised in efforts to bring instruments to an empty field on the campus of Southwestern State Hospital in Thomasville.
Organizers say they're seeing great progress in patients by using music.
"We use music to help people achieve non-musical goals and here in this environment we do things like stress management, anger management," says the hospital's Music Director Melissa Violet.
Violet says the "Sound Garden" will be the first inpatient therapeutic setting in the U.S.
She says they're hoping to receive a grant to help with the cost.
