Republican candidate Nathan Deal met with teachers and students at Lowndes High School, for input on the state's current system.
Deal, has served as both a state representative and senator.
He's says if elected, education would be a top priority, but his biggest challenge would be turning around the economy.
"We believe one of the ways to begin to create better job opportunities, is to improve the tax climate for our state," said Deal. " We are currently ranked by the Tax Foundation at number 29, which means we're in the bottom half of the states in terms of a favorable business climate."
Deal will face Democrat Roy Barnes on the November ticket.
The General Election is Tuesday, November 2.
