Chief Childress was selected out of roughly forty five applications from sixteen diferent states.

He said "I believe we can do a little bit more reaching out to the community. Bringing them back in and getting them more involved in the Police Department. I'm looking at a program called the police advocacy group where I bring in folks across the city, we sit and meet once a month and talk about problems in the community."
