This week (3/27-4/1) nurses and doctors welcomed the newest addition to their team -- the daVinci surgical system.
The robotic machine allows surgeons to perform delicate operations with more precise cutting, and less stress.
Doctors say patients reap the benefits with shorter recovery times and less pain.
Says OB/GYN Dr. Barbara McCollum, "I think patients will be able to have minimally invasive surgery when traditionally they would not. It is a more comfortable surgery, the incisions are small."
Doctors say approximately 30 percent of hysterectomies across the nation are done using daVinci machines.
They say the system gives them much more flexibility by translating human hand movements into fluid surgical strokes, free of jerkiness and tremors.
