Cairo, Georgia- July 27, 2012

As we get ready to cheer on our favorite Olympic athletes from home, one local family will get a chance to do its cheering from London. That comes thanks to a certain Olympian.

American swimmer, Ryan Lochte from Gainesville, Florida flew a Cairo, Georgia family out to the games in memory of their son who passed away.

Mac Crutchfield was 12-years-old when he drowned in an overflowing dam in 2008. He was an avid swimmer and swam for the 'Area Tallahassee Aquatics Club'. When he died, his family started the "Mac Crutchfield Foundation".

When Lochte heard of this organization, he became the spokesperson for it and now he took the family to London to watch him swim for the gold.

"We were just so excited to hear that Maggie and Savannah were able to go to London and support the USA swim team. And really all the athletes there in London. And there's no family that deserves this trip better so we're thrilled," said Celeste Tyler, family friend.

Lochte is helping spearhead a beach party for the "Mac Crutchfield Foundation" in Panama City in September.
