Funeral services were held at 4 this afternoon at All Saints Episcopal Church in Thomasville.

The family asked that the media observe from a distance saying no cameras were allowed inside the church. Ireland died at her home on February 15.

Ireland was known for her conservation efforts helping timbers and others to preserve the red hills of North Florida and South Georgia.

Ireland's name covers Highway 319 between Thomasville and Tallahasseee, the sign reads "Kate Ireland Parkway."

Jimmy - It appears that the media may have requested permission and then honored the family's request. Ms. Ireland was important enough to warrant a story, and you clicked on the story. Ms. Ireland and her family are very important in the Red Hills area.

What makes family think media wanted to take photos. Think highly of themselves don't they?
