Georgia Police Investigating Apartment Shooting

Albany, Georgia - June 27, 2011 -

On June 26, 2011, at approximately 23:39 hours, Officers responded to 3110 Graystone Lane (Greenbrier Apartments-Apartment 1706) in reference to shots being fired. Upon arrival, Officers entered the above apartment and discovered an unknown black male and an unknown black female inside deceased with gunshot wounds.

During the course of the investigation, the male victim was identified as 30-year old Michael Montelle Williams. The female has been identified also but Detectives are waiting proper notification of next of kin to be made before releasing her name.

A person of interest, taken into custody during the initial stages of the investigation, has been released.

This was the second call Officers responded to at this location. Earlier that afternoon, at approximately 16:05 hours, Officers responded to the above location in reference to a Simple Battery/Criminal Damage incident. When they arrived on the scene, they learned that a female guest and his ex-girlfriend got into a physical altercation inside the apartment. Williams forced the ex-girlfriend to leave. But before leaving, she threw a large piece of concrete at his 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and broke the windshield. She then left the scene in a 2010 black Impala. Warrants were issued against the ex-girlfriend (the deceased female in the later incident). No charges have been filed against the female guest.

Detectives are currently investigating the possible connection between the two incidents which remain under investigation.
