County Commissioners have debated with the Humane Society, which is currently in charge of animal control, over budgeting for months.
Monday (3/28), commissioners offered the Humane Society $267,000 for the next two years to continue their services, but that still falls short of the $329,000 the society initially requested for increasing salary and equipment costs.
The contract with the Humane Society expires Thursday (3/31).
The Sheriff's Office says it will take over calls for dangerous dogs and rabid animals at that point if an agreement hasn't been reached.
