With September being National Preparedness Month, the American Red Cross and one local university are making sure residents are ready for the next emergency or disaster.
On Thursday, Sept. 20, the South Georgia Chapter and the Students of the American Red Cross Club at Valdosta State University will host an emergency exercise event.
The goal of the event is to help students and members of the community develop a disaster plan and learn how to handle weather-related emergencies and fires.
Experts will be on site to offer preparedness tips and training.
The event will take place at VSU in the Student Union between 10 a.m and 2 pm.
