Refuge of Hope Readies for Christmas

At the Refuge of Hope, a place for men paroling out of prison, members are cooking ribs and boston butts to keep their program afloat.

They're also boxing holiday packages for $50,000 inmates in north Florida and southern Georgia, containing cookies, chips soap and soft drinks, to name a few.

"When I was incarcerated, I received the same gifts from this program here and it's a real boost," said" Thomas Wiggins, who served time at Dodge State Prison for murder. "Guys who don't get anything from home, they might not have any family. But you receive that package, when you get those cosmetics, or that soda or whatever, it's a real boost."

In the next two days, Brooks and Lowndes County inmates will receive their holiday gifts.

To order the Refuge of Hope's famous boston butts, ribs or turkey call (229) 263-4034.
