The South Health District says February is the the time that flu season spikes in south Georgia.

Officials say the flu usually hits in the schools first and then spreads.

This is the first year the CDC has recommended that everyone get the vaccine and official say residents should.

"I just think it's very important for people to know surely if they have a child that's younger than six months of age, or if they're a caregiver, a daycare worker, it's very important for them to get the flu vaccine."

South Health district is offering the flu shot now for only ten dollars.

Don't ever give the flu shot to a little baby. It's not healthy for them and it makes them sick anyway. I didn't allow my son to get it and he was completely fine!
