Tallahassee FL- Robbers skipped over the electronics, jewelry, and other items-- and instead stole guns-- several of them. Eleven of them-- nine pistols and two shotguns were taken from the man's home this weekend. It has the police turning to the public for help.
One neighbor, Voncile Poppell said, "Nothing like this has ever happened here before! So it really scares me."
Poppell has lived in her home off Cloverdale Drive in thomasville for almost forty years. Early Sunday she found out her neighbor across the street had been robbed. The victim did not want to go on camera, but believes he was targeted for his gun collection-- a thought that only further disturbs his neighbors.
Poppell explained, "Im a widow staying by myself and that makes me that much more scared."
The owner believes the robbers tried to enter this window at first but without any luck they then rounded this corner, and that's when he believes they came to the side of the house bashing in this window entering his home. The owner came home to find his hunting gear tossed all over the floor. He then noticed eleven of his guns missing. Nine of those were hand guns including pistols, glocks and Smith and Wesson's shotguns. The Thomasville Police Department says it has little to go on.
Lt. Eric Hampton with the Thomasville Police Department explained, "Someone might have seen something might have heard something out in the community and can give us a call that will give us a lead so we can complete this investigation and get these guns off the streets."
The Thomasville Police Department said they have not seen an increase in burglaries in the area as of late. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the anonymous crime stoppers hotline at 229-227-3305.
