CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- An India-based rug and accessory manufacturing company is expanding its corporate office and distribution center in northwest Georgia.
Gov. Nathan Deal said Thursday that Surya is investing $30 million in the expansion and is planning to create 200 new jobs at its plant in Cartersville.
Officials say the company is planning to open a 1 million square-foot facility that will handle supply chain management, sales and creative development services. Deal says Hiring for the new positions has already begun.
Surya President Satya Tiwari says the new facility will help consolidate operations and will provide the company with a more efficient logistics base.
Surya manufactures hand knotted rugs and sells other home furnishing products.
