South Georgia Medical Center and the YMCA are now offering a Cardiac Rehab Phase III program.
It's designed for those who've suffered heart trauma.
The staff monitors patients' exercise to ensure they maintain a safe heart rate.
"So when you're on that treadmill and your heart may be elevating a little higher then it should, you have the security of nurses, doctors and technicians to say, 'OK slow this down a little bit and stay in your target range'," says Larry Tobey, the president and CEO of the YMCA.
The Cardiac Rehab Phase III program is offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to noon.
