Valdosta, Georgia --
On November 17, 2010, a local construction company began to demolish a condemned, unoccupied dwelling at the corner of Mills Street and Clark Street. Two citizens came by the area and made the statement that they might “find a body under the concrete there”. The construction company personnel immediately notified the Valdosta Police Department.
Research was done on the area and it was discovered that a female was reported missing from the area over 21 years ago. She previously resided in the 200 block of Cherry Street when she was reported missing by her mother. The female was acquainted with the male who resided at the house located at Mills Street and Clark Street. They were reportedly boyfriend and girlfriend who had previously had domestic issues.
At this time there is no evidence to show that the female is deceased, and she is still considered a missing person.
As of November 18, 2010, Valdosta Police Department detectives received a search warrant for the property and are searching for any evidence of the missing person at this location. Valdosta State University Police is assisting VPD with the search and excavation. At this time, no evidence of human remains has been located.
The former resident has been located and is living in a town north of Valdosta, Georgia. He is cooperating with authorities. Names of the victim and former resident of the house are being withheld at this.
