Valdosta - Shoppers are already lined up around Valdosta to snag a great deal. Stores like Best Buy are actually open on Thanksgiving Day.

"Money, definitely saving money. I'm saving like 500 bucks and my parents are saving like 2 grand. We're buying a ton of stuff out here", says Russell Patelski, who has been outside of Best Buy for two days.

With many shoppers hitting the streets today and tomorrow looking for a deal, Sementha Matthews with The City of Valdosta says, it's important to shop local.

"We encourage all citizens to shop Valdosta on Black Friday. Local businesses actually sustain our economy, they provide jobs for our locals, and they contribute to our quality of life through their investments. We are fortunate in Valdosta to have a variety of businesses to chose from. So why put gas in your car and go elsewhere when you can shop Valdosta?"

Cold weather and long lines didn't stop Patelski, who says why waste time by leaving town?

"I just like to keep everything around here. All my family lives around here, well a lot of my family lives here. My friends live here. Why go anywhere else when I can stay close by?"

Stores like Target and Best Buy open on Thanksgiving at 8PM, but The City also encourages shoppers to visit Downtown Valdosta where stores will also be open on Black Friday.
