In Atlanta three to five inches of snow fell due to a winter storm the same storm that blew in rain and a significant temperature drop in our area.
"Be cautious today especially on bridges and low areas," said Trooper Craig Singletary.
WCTV forecasters said this Monday, temperatures dropped to 30 degrees in parts of south Georgia causing ice patches to form in some areas. In-turn many businesses closed their doors.
"There's gonna be from the rain moisture on the roadways with the temperatures dropping likely they have the chance for ice." said Singletary.
Severe winter weather caused these schools to close on Monday: Mitchell County Schools, Pelham City Schools, Liberty Faith Christian Academy in Moultrie, Moultrie Technical College and Early County Center of Bainbridge College.
All flights to and from Valdosta Regional airport and Southwest Georgia Regional Airport are canceled. Airport officials said they are not sure when flights will take off again.
As for drivers:
"No incidents or accidents that would have been caused by the weather."
Troopers are encouraging drivers to be cautious while on the roadways.
" Watch your speeds to avoid any kind of situations."
WCTV meteorologist say tomorrow temperatures will be higher, causing the chances for ice patches to lessen .
School officials said they aren't sure if school will be back in session tomorrow and we will provide more information as it becomes available.
