South West Georgia Technical College is changing its calendar to match more than 80 percent of American Colleges and Universities.
Staff say changing from quarters to semesters will make transferring to other colleges and universities easier for their students.
The change will take place starting the beginning of the fall semester, which is said to be less than two weeks away.
Just like all changes, staff tell us it has its pros and cons.
"Our students are going to get used to 15 week semesters when they go on to four year institutions for bachelor's degrees, which many students are doing when they finish with us, they'll already be use to 15 week semesters," says South West Georgia Technical College President Dr. Craig Wentworth.
The change is said to provide more time for students to master course work. It will also be very beneficial to those who take part in dual enrollment programs.
