Thomasville, GA-Thomasville may be the Rose City, but 'Sweet Grass Dairy' is still the head cheese to some.

"Ever since they've opened and ever since I've been able to drink legally, I've been coming here to get wine and cheese, " said Lucy Mitchell, a Sweet Grass Dairy customer

"When our kids come home, this is the place they want to come," said Teal Mitchell another customer.

But changes are in store for the Sweet Grass Dairy family. Don't worry cheeseheads. It's not moving anywhere. It's expanding.

The cheese shop on Broad Street will be joined by a new restaurant just a block up the road where Grassroots Coffee is located.

Grassroots Coffee is moving across the street. It will open up at its new spot in July.

"We've kind of outgrown the space here. We're looking forward to more floor-space, more roasting area. We're going to possibly do some more food," said Dustin Maeno with Grassroots Coffee.

Sweet Grass says its new restaurant will have between 15 and 20 workers. Some of them will be brought over from the cheese shop. The rest will be hired from the outside.

"We're very excited about the expansion," said Don Sims, president of the Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce. "It shows that small retail folks can grow here."

Sweet Grass Dairy says it hasn't decided on a name for its new restaurant or what will be on the menu just yet.

The restaurant plans to open sometime in the Fall.

Sweet Grass Dairy did not have any figures for how much its planned expansion is expected to cost.
