Douglasville, GA -- April 24, 2012 --

A Douglas County judge has accepted a guilty plea in the November 2010 stomping death of teen Bobby Tillman.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Emanuel Boykins pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole Tuesday. He would be eligible for parole after serving 30 years.

The 18-year-old Tillman was beaten to death in front of a Douglasville house where two teenage girls were throwing a party. He died from a tear to his heart that happened during the beating.

Boykins, Tracen Franklin, Quantez Devonta Mallory and Horace Damon Coleman, were all charged in the killing. According to Kimberly Coleman, an attorney who works with Bruce Harvey, Franklin's lawyer, Franklin faces the death penalty.

Lawyers: Teen Agrees to Guilty plea in party death

[UPDATE] 6-7-2011

Douglasville, GA (AP) - Lawyers say an 18-year-old who
prosecutors say threw the first punch in a brawl at a Douglasville
party that left a teenager dead has agreed to plead guilty to a
felony murder charge.

Douglas County District Attorney tells The Atlanta
Journal-Constitution that Emanuel Boykin has agreed to the plea in
the death of 18-year-old Bobby Tillman. Boykins' lawyer Jason
Swindle says his client decided to agree to plead guilty June 29 to
avoid a trial where he would risk the death penalty.

The cases against three other men charged in Tillman's beating
death are still pending.

Authorities say the attackers apparently targeted Tillman after
one of the suspects was hit by a woman at the Nov. 6 party and
vowed to strike the next man who passed by.

[UPDATE] 11-10-2010 7:40AM --

ATLANTA (AP) --

Three of four suspects charged with murder in the stomping death of an 18-year-old in a shocking unprovoked attack at a house party have told reporters they are innocent.

The three spoke yesterday with Atlanta television stations about
the death of Bobby Tillman. Authorities say he was killed in
Douglas County, west of Atlanta, when about 80 people descended
Saturday night on the house party near Chapel Hill High School,
Tillman's alma mater.

The fourth suspect declined to be interviewed.

The coroner says injuries as severe as Tillman's are rare except
in automobile wrecks, and he believes a lacerated heart led to his
death. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation performed the autopsy.

Friends of Tillman's gathered last night and remembered him as a
good influence and savvy dresser.

[UPDATE] 11-9 1:20PM --

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. (AP) --

The Douglas County coroner says a teenager killed at a party died as a result of his heart being lacerated while he was being kicked and stomped.

Coroner Randy Daniel said Tuesday that 18-year-old Bobby
Tillman's heart was cut during the beating early Sunday, probably
by a broken bone.

Daniel says the heart laceration caused Tillman to lose a lot of
blood very quickly.

Four other teens who attended the party are charged with murder
and are being held without bond at the Douglas County Jail.

It starts at home. This is a sad situation and a good young man has loss his life. The mother and father did not do their job. We do not create live but man and woman is the vessels to giving life and their duty is to raise a child for GOD. All four of my children are kind and caring. They make mistakes too, but one thing for sure their hearts would not have been part takers of this madness. The parents that allow this party should take some responsibility too.

True that parents should raise their children so the justice system won't have to; todays' youth are a different strand that past generations. I do think that HRS, DCFhave a little responsibility in this. Back when parents were not as concerned of going to jail for hands on consequences there was less crime that involved youngsters. In my day our mother place the fear of God in us girl and we knew better then even as adults today with our Mom dead and gone the discipline is still there. I pray fr this generation!

I pray my child is never a victim of such a malicious act of violence. I pray that God will keep an eye on him and guide him away from the dangers of people who cause harm to others. I pray for the family and friends in their time of grief. I pray that justice is brought ot those who deserve it. Lastly, I pray that any body who reads this understands that once a fight breaks out, you need to stand up and stop it because you never know where that fight will end and death is not something we need to witness.

Parents are home during this party where 80 or so kids show up, but NONE of these party people stopped this vicious attack?! INCREDIBLE!!! To the parents who allowed that many children at your home for a party, you obviously are ones that let the kids run you and that needs to stop!!

My family witnessed this kind of violence in Baltimore years ago. The killers would stomp the victim and then go back and forth like a wave of pestilence until they had stomped him to death. It is a sad fact regarding some facets of our society.

1.Parents are afraid of their kids....they are afraid their kids will stomp them if they diminish their kids self-esteem with discipline, plus Family & Childrens' Services frown on discipline, they define it as abuse, they arrest parents! 2......."Thou Shalt Not Kill" - Exodus 20: 13. But wait.....courts have forbidden the exhibition of the Ten Commandments at the school. Students are taught, AT SCHOOL, that God does not exist! 3. They plead "not guilty" simply because they have no clue they are doing something wrong. They feel they have "the right" to do anything that makes them feel good. Even though they were observed committing the crime our laws allow them to plead not guilty, Thousands of dollars will be spent unnecessarily because the courts are more interested in trying to figure out why they did it than they are punishing them for the crime. Since "the idea of God" was removed from the schools, the schools are producing heathens/pagans ....... irreligious, uncultured, or uncivilized persons.

Sorry there, buddy, but morality starts AT HOME. The school's job is to educate. It's mommy's and daddy's job to instill the concepts of right and wrong, good and evil. Even saying that, the ULTIMATE responsibility is on the head of the punk who did the killing-- period.

Also, since you want to drag this in the direction of religion in school, would you be so amenable as to allow Shariyah law to be taught alongside your Christian teachings? What about Hindu codes of conduct? Or maybe Jainist? Asatru? Probably not. In fact, you'd likely be upset and enraged. They all get allowed or NONE get allowed. That's what religious neutrality means.

It's sad that we humans have degressed to such horrible creatures. I wonder what GOD thinks when he looks upon us. People it's time for us as a nation to band together in prayer, seek GOD repent of our sins, and beg for GOD'S mercy. As an Americian and a parent I would love to see prayer back in schools.

Why are these persons even on television "telling" thier "side" of this? THE "other side" is DEAD. HELLO there were 80 persons there. Keep your mouth shut and pay respect to this dead son. COWARDS when several beat up on one. Yes, I was not there but where were the PARENTS???? HELLO ANYONE HOME?
  • by TallyTrashTalks2 Location: Tallahassee on Nov 9, 2010 at 03:38 PM
This story goes way beyond horrible to me!! To beat anyone to death just for the hell of it, shows no respect for human life and goes beyond teens being mean and doing something for kicks. The four young men responsible for this tradedy need to be punished to the full extent of the law. They cared so little about the life of Bobby Tillman, now a jury needs to make it crystal clear to them, they gave up their life too and will never see the light of freedom again! My sympathy to the Tillman family and friends, as no parent should ever bury a child due to violence of this nature.

Butch, the guy was 18,he's not a kid anymore.Probably doesn't even live with his parents. This was not a 12 year old.Now if the other kids are younger than 18,I agree with you 100%.And by the way,I believe an 18 year old is still a kid,but my opinion is not the one that counts.

People like this are animals and obviously do not belong in society. Save taxpayer money and put these savage thugs out of their misery.
