The Thomas County Board of Commissioners voted not to fund a requested $80,000 increase in the humane society's budget.
Some commissioners feel animal control services could be executed for less than the society's $250,000 allotment.
The humane society says its funding has increased just three percent in the past 11 years and more money is needed as costs rise.
The society says it's willing to do whatever it takes to ensure animal control is taken care of safely and humanely.
They say without the increase in their budget, they will have to cut down on the number of animals they can rescue.
