The Thomasville Utilities Water Construction Crew was presented with the 2010 Lester Feathers award.
The crew's supervisor says the award, which is presented by the Georgia Utilities Coordinating Council, proves his team is dedicated to the safety of people in the community.
Says Thomasville Water Department construction foreman Stephen Stewart, "It's a lot of hard work, a lot of using shovels and diggers, and potholing machines, and just doing what we can not to damage anybody elses utilities."
David Doler also works for the city of Thomasville and says the award boosted employees' spirits:
"It gets the morale of the employees up as far as going out and doing their job correctly, and being safe and knowing they can go home to their families at the end of the day."
GUCC says the Thomasville water crew was selected as an 'outstanding' organization from its 7 participating regions thanks to their commitment to 'safety and property damage prevention.'
