Press Release: Thomasville Police Department
On October 23, 2013 at or around 9:45 pm the Thomasville Police Department responded to a call of a possible sexual assault that occurred in the area of Colton and Loomis Street within the City of Thomasville. A young female reported that while walking home from work, she was attacked and sexually assaulted by an unknown black male. She described her assailant as a black male between 5'8 and 6'; wearing a dark sweater with a hoodie. The victim was walking through a dark path when her attacker jumped out of the bushes and assaulted her. After the assault was over the young victim ran home and then called the police.
This is an ongoing investigation and the Thomasville Police Department is utilizing every resource available to them to identify and arrest this perpetrator. In the meantime the Thomasville Police Department is asking all of its citizens to take necessary precautions to avoid becoming a victim. We are asking that you not walk alone at night. We are also asking that if you have to walk at night, you walk in areas that have adequate lighting and carry a flashlight with you. We also recommend that you have some type of communication device with you such as a cell phone.
If anyone sees any suspicious activities please contact the Thomasville Police Department immediately. Officers will be increasing patrols in these areas in an effort to apprehend the suspect. We ask that you call 911 if you have an emergency.
