Associated Press Release

TIFTON, Ga. (AP) -- Police took a 17-year-old Tift County High School student into custody after they say he admitted to calling in a bomb threat against the school.

Tifton police Detective Jared York told The Tifton Gazette detectives were able to trace the call that was made to 911 around 9:37 a.m. Tuesday to a cellphone the student had with him at the school.

York says the teen was taken to the police department for an interview and admitted to making the call. He was then taken to the county jail, where he was being held while police waited on warrants.

York says the school was evacuated and searched after the call, but no explosives or other dangerous devices were found.
