Two 16 Year-Olds Arrested For Rash Of Local Car Break-Ins

Bainbridge, GA- Two 16 year-olds have been arrested for a rash of car break-ins in Bainbridge.

Investigators with Bainbridge Public Safety say within the past week they've had nearly 40 car burglaries.

An officer was patrolling the area late Sunday night when he saw a car with its door open.

When he went to check it out, he found one of the teens crouched down and on him were some of the items reported stolen.

He was taken in for questioning and admitted to most of the break-ins.

He then led officers to a second teenage suspect.

"They were taking coins, any kind of electronics, I-pods, I-pads, sunglasses," said Major Robert Humphrey with Bainbridge Public Safety. "All the vehicles they entered were open," he added.

Hannah William's was the owner of one of the some 40 cars that were broken into. William's said her GPS was stolen Friday night.

"It's eerie," she said. "Whenever I go into my car, I have that mentality that someone was in here rummaging through my things, trying to steal from me and I feel unsafe. It's an extreme violation of my privacy."

Both teens were taken to a juvenile detention center outside of Bainbridge.

Right now, they are facing at least 27 counts of entering an automobile.
