"Your daily life is just changed to how am I gonna get the next hit," says Rachel Pate, 24, who now works at the House of Hope, a Christian home for recovering alcohol and drug addicts. "How am I going to pay for the next thing of meth I'm gonna buy?"

Rachel Pate knows the devastating effects of meth. She's a recovering user, who's been clean for three years.

"I just know that it's everywhere," adds Pate, who a month ago gave birth to a healthy baby girl. "In places that you least expect it. I've just seen it happen time and time again in different places so it doesn't surprise me."

Pate wasn't shocked to learn two men are behind bars for cooking meth nearby. Jonathan Hill, 25, and Jeremy Brown, 31, were arrested on Wednesday for making the drug at 2910 Mud Tussle Road. An anonymous call sent deputies to the scene.

"Once they opened [their] truck, they found five coffee filters containing a small quantity of methamphetamine," says Mike Sellars, with Lowndes County's Narcotics Unit. "The total amount of methamphetamine found was 2.8 grams."

Drug agents seized the components from Brown and Hill's home. They include ammonium nitrate, fuel and rubber hoses. Things Pate says almost destroyed her life.

"If I can stop, anybody can stop because I was completely addicted to it," explains Pate. "Once you realize that you can function without it, your life will be so much better."

Brown was denied bond and Hill was granted a $100,000 bond. Both men remain at the Lowndes County Jail.
