The Whigham Police Department says Chedrick Brown was pulled over for speeding on Highway 84 East yesterday (2/10), then took off while the officer still had his driver's license.
Police say the 30-year-old led officers on a chase into Cairo, Georgia, during which he dropped a black bag containing almost two pounds of marijuana buds out of the window of his car.
WPD says an off-duty firefighter recovered the bag and turned it over to local law enforcement.
In addition to the drugs, officers found more than $1,500 in cash in Brown's pockets.
Brown faces multiple charges, including possession of marijuana and obstructing law enforcement.
The Whigham Police Department says a routine traffic stop turned criminal after a man was pulled over on his way to Cairo today (2/10).
They say an officer pulled the man over because he looked like he was speeding, and while the officer was checking the man's driver's license, he noticed marijuana seeds and the smell of marijuana in the man's truck.
WPD says while the officer was still standing next to the vehicle, the driver took off, leaving his license behind.
They say the officer followed the man, and at some point the driver threw a bag out the window of the vehicle.
WPD says a passing firefighter recovered the bag, which contained two pounds of marijuana buds, and turned it over to the officer in pursuit.
Officers say interviews have just concluded with the suspect.
They say more information about the incident will be available in the morning (2/11).
