[UPDATE] 2-25 Noon --
The Thomas County Sheriff's Office says a convicted child molester is back behind bars after violating the terms of his probation.
TCSO says a probation officer spotted 42-year-old Guy Smith coming out of a Thomasville childcare center Tuesday (2/22) afternoon.
Investigators say Smith ran when the officer tried to stop him, but they found and arrested him at home.
TCSO says Smith, who served ten years for child molestation and statutory rape, violated the terms of his probation by being near children without an approved chaperon.
Deputies say a judge will determine whether Smith must serve the remainder of his probation behind bars.

A man convicted of molesting several children in our area is set to be released from prison this weekend.
Thomas County investigators say 40 year old Guy Christopher Smith is scheduled to be released from prison on Sunday July 27th , after serving nine years for molesting four young girls in the 90's.
Investigators say two of his victims were related to him and that some of his victims became pregnant.
"The problem with Mr. Smith is his mother actually ran a day care so we don't know how many children he's molested in the past, we want to make sure the community is aware that he is here and should be listed as a predator," said Thomas County Investigator Tim Watkins.
Investigators say Smith will have to register as a sex predator so that his neighbors will be alerted no matter where he chooses to live.
Smith, who has relatives in Thomas County, will be on probation for the next ten years.
