School is out for thousands of students, but it's not stopping teachers from preparing for next year.
More than 100 teachers and faculty members will join together for the Valdosta City Schools District Improvement Planning Retreat this week.
Administrators say it gives teachers a chance to focus on ways to improve student achievement.
"It's a time where we come together and we look at the initiatives we have going on in our district over the past year," says Valdosta City Schools Executive Director for Teaching and Learning Scarlet Brown. "Look at what's worked well, what we can improve and additional things we might need to address."
Administrators will also discuss their Race to the Top initiatives and the timelines of when they want to complete the initiatives throughout the year.
The two-day retreat starts Wednesday at 8 a.m.
