On December 31, 2011 at approximately 1306 hours, the Valdosta Police Department responded to the South Georgia Medical Center in reference to a gunshot victim. Officers arrived and spoke to Larry Wimberly who advised that at approximately 3am, he was walking home from the American Legion Nightclub and as he was walking past the Hudson Dockett Housing Complex, 807 S. Fry Street, he heard arguing and then several gunshots. Wimberly stated that he ducked down, but did not see anyone in the area. Wimberly told officers that he was intoxicated and did not realize that he had been shot in the right shoulder until he woke up at around noon and saw the blood on his shirt. A Detective from the Valdosta Police Department Persons Crime Unit responded to the hospital to investigate. Wimberly could not remember exactly where he was when the incident occurred and believes that he was not the intended target. The bullet grazed Wimberly’s shoulder and he was treated and released.
