VSU's Students In Free Enterprise, or SIFE members, pledge to collect 25,000 of food for its Hungry Hearts drive.
Both Second Harvest of South Georgia and Sam's Club are making that possible.
At Sam's Club, members can feed a family of four by buying a case of ravioli, apple sauce and corn for $19.18.
"Hunger is such a huge issue that we see all over the world but we don't imagine that it's actually going on in our own community," said Joe Ervin III, SIFE's team president. "So, this is a time for us to give back."
The drive kicks off with a cookout at Sams Club on Norman Drive this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
And anyone can donate canned goods there through next Saturday, February 19.
And at other selection locations by April 15.
