Valdosta, GA - A house fire early Monday morning killed a man and his dog. The home of 42 year old James Trotter is completely destroyed.

Firefighters say it happened around 3:00 am at 604 West Street in Valdosta. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire, but they've ruled it an accident. Valdosta Fire Chief J.D. Rice says it may have something to do with candle holders.

Trotter's remains are being sent to the crime lab in Macon, Georgia for an autopsy.
